The old guy can still do it

Oh yeah......it's been a while since my last post and i've been looking forward to this weekend for a while.
It's NASCAR.
It's Atlanta.
And it's not freezing ass cold.
And it's not raining.
Kinda odd for race weekend in Hot-Lanta.
I wonder what the next race on Labor Day weekend will be like?
The truck race is tomorrow, so they had Cup qualifying tonight.
I wanted to try something different, so I found a place in the infield that would possibly do what I envisioned(see, even a good ol Munford boy can use those $10 words).
It kinda worked.
Or as our photo editor would say.....'Getty shit'.

Super rookie Joey Lagano races down the front stretch on one of his qualifying laps.

Kurt Busch drives his car across the finish line to qualify on the outside of the front row.

One of my favorite images from tonights Sprint Cup qualifying. Next time i'll try harder to get the horizons level.

Same thang with this one.......even Smoke in the background can't make this one look good.

I made new friends tonight.......this bunch is from Knoxville and was watching qualifying on TV. I shot everything tonight from the deck of the Oreo Bus. Russell, the Oreo Bus owner, invited me up to the deck as I was walking by, looking for an elevated place to shoot.

They seemed to be having a good time, but promised me they would keep it quite and turn in early. I failed to ask if it was early tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Good images were happening everywhere, not just on the Oreo Bus.

Oh.......the old guy I was talking about.......No other than Mark Martin.
Just because he is over 50, like some of us, don't mean he is slowing down.
It's his first pole for his new Hendrick team.
I bet it's not his last.......
